I generally love the "back to school" season - mainly, I love buying school supplies and getting organized: new planners, new notebooks, new pens*, and so on. This year, I bought jumbo index cards! I don't really know why, because I don't need them, but they are so fun to write on!

Classes starting back most definitely did not start out slow. I am trying to remember all of my Greek from last year, so that has been challenging. I have been trying to slowly review everything, but it's frustrating realizing how much I forgot. For my Creative Writing class, not only do I have to write a poem using no verbs for next week, but I also have to memorize the poem "Carrion Comfort" by Gerard Manly Hopkins and be able to recite it.... I have never had a college teacher assign a poem recitation before! I really need to get started on that...
Cru
Changing topics, Cru has been going really well! We had about 103 freshmen attend our Bible studies in the dorms this last Wednesday - our goal for the year is 120, so we are close! The first Cru weekly meeting (where we have worship and a speaker) went really well, also. I volunteered to write name tags as people came in, and there were a lot of people that I didn't know. The couple days leading up to Cru were really exciting, as well, because so many people who were involved last year had changed their facebook profile pictures to the Cru advertisement, as well as their statuses promoting Cru. Everyone was so excited about it! I still feel like I have a lot of work to do following up girls that said they wanted more information about Cru when we did surveys on campus, and that is something I probably could do this afternoon, but it's Friday and I am tuckered out** from the week. Plus at 4 I am going to Wilson Park for Cru in the park. Generally I play ultimate frisbee, but today I might just hang out on the side and hopefully talk to freshman girls who show up.
So, overall, it has been a good week. Despite a crazy schedule and frying my brain trying to remember my Greek...
My "first day of school" picture with one of my roommates/best friends:
*Sharpie brand now makes PENS! They are liking writing with their fine-tip markers, only they don't bleed through the paper... as much. I normally stick to just writing with a pencil, but these pens have become my go-to writing utensil.
**This phrase was what just came out when I was typing, and now rereading this, I don't really know where that phrase originated from. What does it really mean? Why do I say it? It's like when I say that I am fixing to go do something... huh?

** Only a writer would give that a second thought!
