The cold railing shocked my skin, piercing past
the knees of my jeans and rain jacket sleeves,
and a layer of fog lined both sides of the bay
as the ferry glided out from Juneau.
knotted one too many times.
sprayed my knuckles.
The grey world blended with my soul,
and one step closer to home still felt far away.
