study break

I am going home TOMORROW! I am not completely sick of Fayetteville (I will miss my friends) but I AM ready for real food (the Pomfreteria just gets worse because most people have left by now) and I am ready to be home for Christmas. Except I am coming home so late, the Christmas season will seem shorter than usual.

For example, last weekend. If you received this in a text, what would you think?

"Got the Christmas tree... can't wait for you to come home to decorate it."

Like my mom is excited for me to come home, right?
She called me a little bit afterwards and was like "Well, we are driving home. We are going to decorate the tree tonight."
My response was "WHAT?!"
"I just sent you a text message telling you we couldn't wait..."
"I thought that was an excited 'we-can't-wait'! Not literally!"
And I heard my dad laughing in the background.

That night I received a picture of my brother and my dog in front of the lit, decorated tree.
Thanks, Dad. Almost like I am there. Not quite.
And my friends think that is the funniest story ever...

Ha! Yeah, I would have interpreted it the same way you did. One of the shortcomings of e-mails and text messages, I guess.

Hahaha! I would have thought the same thing. Poor Sam. :(

I understand the bit about the caf food gradually getting worse...during finals week, I'm convinced our cafeteria was trying to see just how much they could get away with. they even completely quit restocking the napkins. i was grateful for a home-cooked meal.
