It's like...

In Creative Writing class today, we discussed similes and metaphors. As an exercise, our teacher gave us a starting line and we had to finish it, and it was actually pretty fun. Here are some of the things I came up with...

Waves unfurled like the peeling of apple skin.
After the bombing, the town looked as if if was that random junk drawer in your parents' house that no one wanted to even attempt to organize.
tired as a tree in winter whose branches have given way to the biting wind, a tree wondering when spring will arrive and beginning to give up hope for new life.
Old Main is an oversized sweater that, as you put it on, evokes memories.

My love life is like a book that, although you have been told that it's good, has a boring beginning. Characters come in that you think might play a part, but they end up disappearing. The plot has no action so far, but you are told that something will eventually happen so you make yourself keep reading, hoping that something interesting happens soon.
